 | Passed our electrical inspection. Woo Hoo! |
 | We extended the loan yet again, but we almost have the temporary
permit. Just flooring and appliances left. So, hopefully, this
one shouldn't cost us as much. Mark thinks it could be next week. |
 | Dad has been installing the carpet on the main floor and basement, very
happy with the installation, the quality of the carpet, and the color of the
carpet. I came down stairs to check out his work and found a pile of
his tools. My dad's tools. You know how there are those things
you grow up with that you associate with someone? Well, for me, I
discovered that for me, it's my dad's tools. I love that Mark and I
have worked on the house, that Cody has worked on the house, that my dad has
worked on the house. Makes it feel more like it our home. |
 | Right now one room is done; the office/nursery. Once the carpet in the kid
bedroom is complete, we'll have two rooms done. Oh, except for the fact that
they are missing their doors. But, then again, there are no interior
doors in the house right now. |
 | Two nice folks from Canyon Creek came out to look at our cabinets and
order some replacement doors for us. They were very helpful, saw the issues
we were having, and really enjoyed taking a tour of the house. They
appreciated alot of the details that we'd put into the house. It's nice to
show the house off to people that notice the details. It was also fun
to show off the house to people that knew nothing about it. |
 | More progress this week, the island is done. Sink installed,
countertop installed, bar top installed. It was alot of work, but it
looks fantastic. Mark also had Sage sand off the edges of the bar top
so it didn't look so perfect and new. |
 | The tilers came and did the slate in the mudroom/pantry/laundry, the
fireplace hearth, and the trim tile in the kid bathroom. They also
tried to fix the two cracked tiles on the edge of the shower bench. In
the process they broke one of the replacement tiles. We don't have any
more. We have to go see if we can order anther one, or better yet, two
or three. Hopefully it'll match in color well enough. We've
found quite a bit of color variation amongst tiles from different lots. |
 | We'll have to extend the loan, yet again. We're hoping to get the
temporary permit in the next week or so, which will allow us to close the
loan. Then, we can work on all the finish stuff. We'll have
double-mortgage for a month or two, but we have planned for that. We
still hope to have the house DONE before we move in. You know
all those little projects in your house that aren't done yet. We don't
want to have those hanging over our heads, cuz they'll never get
done. |
 | The gal from Canyon Creek cabinetry is coming out next week to look at our
job. This week we'd gotten the 3rd frame piece for the microwave that
was wrong, yet again. So, Mark politely expressed to her that since
they were consistently getting it wrong, maybe they needed to come look to
see the issues. The first one had no distressing done to it, the
second one had half of the distressing (no rounded edges) and was the wrong
size, the third one has half of the distressing, still no rounded
edges. But this piece has the 'random, hand applied' distressing that
we are after. We're trying not to be too particular, but when two
replacement doors show up that carry the exact same marks as the original
two broken doors, that match the other three un-broken doors, something
doesn't seem so 'random' and 'hand applied' about them. We paid for a
specific look, and we didn't get it. We almost would have been better
doing the distressing ourselves. |
 | Finish To Do list count: 149 done out of 269. |
 | P.S. I finally got a day off. Two actually. It's 5pm.
I'm still in my PJs, I ate breakfast, I've taken a nap, I played some
boxing and tennis on the Wii, and, well, that's about it. Ahhhhhh.
I think I *might* do something tomorrow. |
