Today we went to the Seattle Home show.  The biggest news of the day:  we found our countertop!!!!  Squak Mountain Stone in thunder.  Sold by the Environmental Home Center.  It's worn looking, it's the right color, it's made up of recycled materials, and it's really inexpensive!!!!!  It's perfect!!!
Went down to Chehalis to pick up stuff from storage, and have dinner with Jim & Jae.  Got the steamer, and the pot light fixtures.  Also got to see the tub and utility sink and take measurements/pictures.

Spent the day at the site cleaning up and helping Mark & Cody.  The HVAC continues.  It is something out of a space oddity in our downstairs.  Big silver tubes running everywhere.  Cody accommodated our request to not run the main pipe right down what will be the main walkway in the storage space, so we have a little more piping, elbowing, and runs than we might otherwise.  We didn't have good light downstairs so I don't have any good pictures.
Mark has been working his butt off with Cody.  Poor guy is exhausted.  Now he did get a mini-vacation to go snowmobiling up in Penticton, so I don't feel too bad for him, but he has been working.
The plumbers are done.  I took some pictures of the plumbing.  I'll post a few, but they're not that exciting to anyone else but me & Mark.
The electrician is starting on Monday.  We had a walk-thru with him on Tuesday planning out where all the switches and plugs will be and how we want to be able to control things.
We continue to try and dry out the house, we're investigating dehumidifiers next.

Mark and Cody have been doing the HVAC for the last two days, progress, progress, progress.  They've been working late.  Late enough that I've been coming over to the house after work when it's still dark out.  Has made for some interesting nighttime photos.
We've started to dry out the house a bit with the big space heater and fans.  Mark sealed off the open doors with plastic and has been heating the place up.
The neighbor's dog Jobo has been hanging out with Mark & Cody for the last two nights.  The dog is addicted to chasing the flashlight on the ground.
Mark's mum is coming down to see the house next week.  She is so excited.  She's gonna cry.  Me too.
My Valentine's Day gift was a furnace.  I'm thrilled!  What a house-building dork I am.

The windows are all in!
The roof is all done!
The plumbers are just about done.
The framers are just about done.  Bless them, they started in November.  14 weeks for framing.  However, they did a fantastic job.  The roofers were complimenting their work.  We know it's a well-built house and that everything is square, plumb, and level.
The HVAC is getting started.  Met Cody out at the site today and planned where everything would go.

They finished installing all the windows on the main floor today.  Mark said they were very heavy and very awkward to handle.  He was helping the three framers and the four of them were still really struggling with it.
The roofers are finishing up.  Know how they clean off the roof?  Leaf blower!
We had a little design problem over the front door.  The side roof came under the gable over the front door (yes, I know, I know, look at the pictures!).  The framers had followed the plans, but once it was done, it didn't look good.  So we had them fix it.  Yes, it was extra, but it wasn't that hard to fix and it's one of those things that every time we drove up (down) to the house I would've noticed it.  We're all about 'no changes' and living with the things we designed, but this one we could fix and we both agreed that we wanted to fix it.
Brother-in-law is on board to do the HVAC (heating, venting, AC) which we're thrilled about.  He's excited to do it, we know he'll do it right, we'd much rather pay him than anyone else.  I love knowing who worked on the house.

Did clean-up at the site today.  Swept/squeegeed the entire house.  Got all the scrap wood, sawdust, nails, etc. out of the house.  There are parts of the house that are beginning to dry.  The wind storm actually helped quite a bit.

2-03-06

Brought out coffee & donuts, Krispy Kreme, of course, and spent the day at the site helping Mark.  The roof is probably 2/3rds of the way done.  The framing is 98% complete.  They finished our stairs to the 2nd floor today, so we got to walk up them for the first time!!  Mark & I installed all the waterproof paper that goes around the window openings.  The framers also started to install some of the windows.  Love the windows; the Tilt & Turn is fabulous!  The front three windows of the house are ribbed for privacy, and they look soooo nice!!
We'll be heading out to the house tomorrow to power wash it all down.  There are piles of wet sawdust everywhere!
